History says Palairos was inhabited from the age of Homer the famous Greek poet, but this is not proven. It is certain however that around 600-625 bc  the Korinthians had colonies on the Akarnanian coast.  The site of Kechropoula is without doubt a large sacred city with uncountable graves and an ancient temple possibly dedicated to Zeus or Hercules. Visitors can freely walk the site and take a trip in time to when this archeological site was in it’s full glory.
