The Amvrakikos gulf is the largest wetland eco-system in Greece, made up of lagoons, reed beds, bush and salt marshes.  Named “Rodia”, the Wetlands are situated in the north west part of the gulf and has the largest singular expanse of reeds in the whole of the Balkans and is inhabited by many species of fish and birds. Take the opportunity to observe the feathered inhabitants of the marshland which include gulls, herons, kingfishers, plovers, wild pelicans and many more rare species of birds. Organised excursions leave on a daily basis, with experienced guides full of information.
